Thomas Beisl

If you feel like taking a trip to the Brooklyn Art Museum (or the BAM), if you are in the Ft. Greene area, or you want good Viennese food, go to Thomas Beisl. With the restaurant's pub feel, and very Austrian authenticity, you feel very comfortable in your corner of Europe. But the food, from smoked salmon, to braised beef, to Apple Strudel with Schlag (thick cream), it was really good. The beef came with beets, potatoes, carrots, and it was quite a feast. The service could be a little better, but besides that, please go! And plus, take a visit to the BAM, its right across the street. Thomas Beisl is located on 25 Lafyette Street, which is acessible from the 2, 3, 4, 5, B, or D trains. The phone number is 1-(718)-222-5800

Bills Bar & Burger

If you are in the Meat Packing District, and you are looking for a good, cheap bite to eat, go to Bill's. You walk in to a bar filled with tables, and a busy kitchen. But they have a sit-down area in the back, with nice tables and nice waiters. They have my personal favorite root beer, Abita, on tap, and a menu of burgers, fries, and shakes. The burger was AMAZING! A great 5 oz piece of beef, cheddar, and a secret sauce which is one of a kind. And the fries were cooked to perfection. This is a definite come back place, and is still pretty unknown, so not crowded. Bills Bar & Burger is located on 22, 9th Ave (on 13th st). The telephone number is 1-(212)-413-3112. Enjoy!

Dean's Pizzeria

This place really disappointed me. I heard nothing but good things about their pizza, but going there was a huge letdown. The interior of the restaurant was very nice. There was good lighting, and nice furniture. But the atmosphere was AWFUL. Screaming babies crawling everywhere, including one who constantly disrupted our table. It was not enjoyable. Then the pizza came, a large round sausage pizza, and it was nothing special. It tasted like a bland pizza. All and all, I say you don't need to go here. But if you must, Dean's Pizzeria is on 85th between Broadway and Amsterdam (address number 215). The phone number is 1-(212)-875-1100.

Gus and Gabriel Gastro Pub

This pub was awesome. If they place could they would brew a heck of a drink. But there large selection of beverages just shows how diverse the menu is. The food was SPICY! Everything had peppers and more peppers, and tons of sauces with chili powder. I had the pulled pork sandwich (a personal favorite) and it was awesome. It had jalapeƱos and chili, along with homemade cole slaw and fries which made an awesome meal. And then for desert, a BIG chocolate malt. It was perfect, with a cherry on top. The atmosphere could be a little better, because it was cramped and they tried fitting art where no one could really see it. And maybe more sports on their large TVs, and not Man v. Food. But I strongly recommend going there. It is on west 79th St, between Broadway and Amsterdam. The phone number is 1-(212)-362-7470.

num pang

This Asian sandwich shop was some of the best food I had in a while. I ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich, and there was nothing bad about it! It was a tender pork, carrot strips, and cucumbers. And to top it off, a tangy, spicy orange dressing. IT WAS AWESOME! The space the place was in was quite small, with not much sitting room, but it is a great quick bite, and very portable. I give it 4.5/5 stars, just because its location was not the best.
It is located right on 12th and University Place. The phone number is 1-(212)-255-3273. It is veggie friendly.
